A Return to Normalcy?

Posted on June 6, 2008 at 9:39 AM

Please accept my sincere apology...

It has been quite awhile since I've blogged...the atypical depression that set in during my recent illness completely zapped my motivation to write.  The doctors said it was a combination of all the meds, my frustration of not having a diagnosis, in addition to not being able to go to work and having restricted activity.

According to the Diagnosic and Statistical Manual IV,  the patient with atypical features experiences mood reactivity, with improved mood when something good happens. In addition, the DSM-IV mandates at least two of the following: increase in appetite or weight gain (as opposed to the reduced appetite or weight loss of "typical" depression); excessive sleeping (as opposed to insomnia); leaden paralysis; and sensitivity to perceived rejection.  Yup, that was me!66t1e6c_th.jpg TEARS1 picture by reedi0701

My poor family...what they had to deal with for over two months - God bless them!  Almost everything they said I took as a personal insult or attack.  My moods were up and down like a see-saw.  It was an effort to get out of the chair, and sweets and carbs were my best friends.  Finally one of the doctors removed a medication from my daily regime and the symptoms subsided tremendously.  I was able to return to work on May 12th, and life is back to normal...

What is NORMAL?  Kelly and Dan announced their engagement last week...Ricky asked Jim's permission to marry Courtney yesterday...I will have TWO weddings within 18 months of each other!

On top of that...Jim has planned a large home improvement project for this year.

So, my life will be anything but NORMAL for the next several months.  I will be in "organizational heaven" with the planning, schedules, shopping, etc.

The Lord knew what would lift my mood and keep me motivated...(but couldn't He have done it in smaller doses instead of dumping the entire bottle out at once?) Oh well...God does say He won't give us more than we can handle!

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will direct your paths."  Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT)
